Title: The fear
Post by: towelie on September 01, 2011, 06:47 am
I smoked weed everyday all day from age 14-22.  One night at a party I ripped quite a few 3' ers and had a severe panic attack and I mean severe.  I have tried it here and there over the years to see if anything changes  but any more than 2 puffs and I think the whole world is out to get me.
My question is with all the different strains out there today are there any that are tried and true anxiolytics?
Anyone else have this issue and overcome it.
I would love to be able to smoke again without the weight of the world crushing my skull.  :-[
Any advise is welcome.
Thanks

Take psychedelics.

I used to be "ok" with weed...I didn't enjoy it as much as my friends did, but I smoke from time to time.  Then I got talked into smoking a gravity bong, and freaked out (I thought I was dying, it was one of the most horrifying experiences I can remember).

I used to have the same problem as you.  I would smoke a little and start to get super paranoid and anxious; I couldn't focus or calm down, or (most importantly), have fun whenever I smoked.  After I few VERY intense trips (which I've always enjoyed), I tried smoking again, and the anxiety was gone.  Yes, at first I did ask myself "what if?," but it didn't affect my high.

I'm not sure why it's like that now...Because psychedelics are so much more intense?  Because of how long it has been since I last smoked?  Because it doesn't compare to other drugs I've done?  Whatever made the feeling go away, it's gone for good now  :)

Yes, paranoia can be a very scary experience. I recommend benzo's for when things get too much, but be warned they can also be a crutch.

yes there are tons of pain and anxiety relief buds...Ask LTTM, Digital Alch or GreenCo for examples of these plants.

i have been smoking weed every day for 20 years. i don't have anxiety because i know what strains give it to me, so sometimes i will avoid them.

i also take ssri 1x/day benzo which helps. this has only been for the past 5 years, as i have been through some trauma.

Different strains. LTTM, Digital Alch or GreenCo are all very reputable and would be more than happy to explain these strains as Nomad said.

personally sour diesel gets the job done. LexiSadie carries a great one if you check out her listing.

That's pretty much where I am as well, OP.  Used to thoroughly enjoy it, but paranoia crept into my brain over the years to the point where the thought of smoking weed without a little chemical assistance creeps me the hell out.  Really sucks, because I remember so well how much I loved it in my younger years.

A couple of years ago my doctor prescribed me klonazepam for my anxiety/blood pressure, and it worked wonders.  After a few days, I thought I'd try to pick up the old bowl and see how it worked out under a benzo.  And there it was - exactly how I remembered it - nice, relaxed weed high.

One other thing that seems to help a little is to have a few beers in me before toking up.  The anxiety is still there, but nowhere near as powerful.  I do like the old "one-two punch" with alcohol and weed, but it's only for special occasions these days when amongst friends.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. :D
I will check with some vendors and do some more research.
I've taken Val and smoked and the fear still manages to creep in a little so maybe I try with Al see if that makes any difference.
Thanks again.

have you tried klon?

i find it more effective with managing the fear than val.

val is good and has massive half life, but klon is special to me.

Agreed.  Even seems to beat out Xanax.  Klon always seemed to be the perfect benzo for me - killed the anxiety dead but didn't knock me out.  Could always keep a good, clear head while on it.  Well, until I decided to toke up, anyway.  :)

Coma,
Any in particular?  I have good exp with lucy and shrooms. Lucy got me to quit smoking a long time ago but none erased anxiety.
